User Experience Research and Design User Interface Development
About Me
Hi! Welcome to my website! I am currently seeking to pursue a PhD in the field of Human-Computer Interaction. My academic research interest is to probe into innovative educational technologies or systems that improve one or more aspects of learning outcomes and promote collaboration and creativity.
I am an advocate of educational equity, women for information technology, and technological innovation for education. My goal is to become a data-driven UX researcher.
I worked on various projects that utilized my user experience research and design skills. I collaborated with software engineering students and developed a math game for visually-impaired children. I also worked for multiple non-profit organizations as a webmaster and UX/UI designer.
I received a Master’s degree in educational innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor's degree in English from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics. In 2020, I obtained the User Experience Research and Design Specialization Certificate from the University of Michigan.
Currently, I live in Austin Texas. I enjoy hiking, reading, and cooking in my free time. Right now I am working on a waffle recipe.
This is a user experience research and design project that aimed to provide a plant care application for beginners. This app provides users with customized gardening tips according to the home environment. The key functions include identifying a plant by name or photo, checking if a plant is recommended to grow in the user’s home environment condition, setting customizable reminders to take care of the plants regularly, etc.
A Virtual Reality Game for temporary visual-spatial memory
This is a research project that utilized Virtual Reality technology for visual-spatial memory training among teenagers. Players are asked to walk/teleport around the world, kill the monster spider, and capture a pokemon.
In this project, I worked as the game designer and developer.
The history of the Student Coalition for Action in Literacy Education (SCALE) begins with its founding in the fall of 1989 when two Carolina undergraduate tutors, Lisa Madry and Clay Thorp, joined forces to mobilize and support college students who wanted to address the literacy needs of this country.
SCALE has been at the core of a robust network of campus-based literacy programs that fully involve students and their learners.
This is a website redesign project. I collected web data using Google Analytics and conducted interviews with target users to form a user needs analysis report. The website was redesigned to improve the information searching and browsing experience.
Data Matters™ is a week-long series of one and two-day courses aimed at students and professionals in business, research, and government. The short course series is sponsored by the Odum Institute for Research in Social Science at UNC-Chapel Hill, the National Consortium for Data Science, RENCI, and North Carolina State University.
This is an NGO website development project for Data Matters™ course promotion. The design and implementation are based on the target user interview results.
The South Hub is part of a network of four regional Big Data Hubs, launched by the National Science Foundation and funded in part by host universities and other partners. Managed jointly by the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the South Hub serves 16 states and the District of Columbia—from Texas to Delaware—with more than 1000 members from universities, corporations, foundations, and cities committing their support.
This is an NGO website development project for South BD Hub. The UI of this website follows the standard template and I optimized the sitemap and content of this website for SEO improvement.
